Nutrition Tips

  • Eat four to five times per day.
  • Eat low-fat protein choices with each meal or snack.
  • Eat nine fruits and vegetables per day (one of each per meal).
  • Drink water with each meal.
  • When you eat carbohydrates, eat only high fiber, unrefined choices (3g of fiber per serving).
  • Choose two low-fat dairy choices per day.
  • Limit alcohol. Alcohol is the only form of calories that is not used as fuel by the muscles. It can slow the metabolism and also increase your appetite for fatty foods.
  • Commit to improving one thing per week with your current nutrition plan until you’ve met the six previous suggestions.
  • Keep a food diary.  Writing down everything you consume on a daily basis, even if you are following a diet closely, will help you establish a pattern that will help you maintain the goals you reach.
